Nerolidol exudes a delicate floral body, comparable to the sweet and greener notes of roses and spring apples.
Its name comes from Neroli oil, a 18th-century extract made by steam-distilling the blossoms of bitter orange trees. Other sources of Nerolidol include other flowering citrus trees, ylang ylang, and wild strawberry.
